Maintenance :
La maintenance ne semble pas plus aisée que la reproduction, car ce poisson ne parait pas avoir été maintenu avec succès dans les milieux killiphiles.
Reproduction :
Très difficile à reproduire et très peu productif. Impossibilité de faire cohabiter plusieurs mâles car ils sont très agressifs. Il est conseillé d'utiliser un trio pour la reproduction, le mâle étant agressif envers la femelle.
Origine géographique
Collecté par J. BUYTAERT et W. WACHTERS lors de leur voyage en République Populaire du Congo (Congo, Brazzaville) en juillet 1978. La localité type (RPC 28) est située dans la province de LEKOUNOU – ruisseau EKOUMA, près du village OGOUEE, entre ZANAGA et VOULA II. La température de l'air à 14 heures, le 23.7.78 était de 19°C. Celle de l'eau : 18°C. pH: 6; conductivité : 40 uS.
C'est le seul point de capture connu de cette espèce. J. BUYTAERT est retourné au Congo en juillet 1979. où il y a capturé, à nouveau, cette espèce au même endroit (nommé cependant RPC 205 a) ... (Sympatrique A. Schluppi, A. caudofasciatum)
